The basement with club character

In 1985 it was decided to build the cultural cellar. After approximately 3 years of renovation work from a “beer” cellar to a “culture” cellar, it was opened on September 24, 1988. Due to the capacity of 100 people, the cellar has a club-like character, which is very much appreciated by both the artists and the visitors. Typical of the program in the first years of the event were readings, smaller concerts, cabarets, exhibitions and plays.

A lot has changed since then. Over time, the cultural cellar became increasingly popular, especially among young people. International and national artists have performed almost every weekend in recent years. The regularity and abundance of events naturally led to the desire for change. For example, the technical facilities and local conditions were outdated and did not meet noise protection and safety standards.

In February 2008, the long-awaited wish was fulfilled and the renovation began. The following measures were implemented: redesign of the entrance area, demolition of the arena (expansion of storage/backstage), installation of a ventilation system (noise protection), new stage, new control area, improvement of the acoustics and renovation of the security area.

Concerts, clubbing, theater, discussions, slide shows and much more, the variety of events is enormous. But youth concerts in particular take place with great regularity. Countless bands have performed here for the first time. It is not uncommon for around 2,000 visitors to come to the events every month.
