A gondola ride to "Le Cune", at 2,200 m, for a view of the Dolomites that opens your eyes to happiness. Next comes a themed path that teaches you about the life of the inhabitants of the forest and the mountain through stories and entertainment that will also turn children into passionate little mountain guides. On the trail of the marmots, because it is right here that an entire community of these adorable rodents lives; it can even be walked with a buggy, as the path is all downhill. Recognising them through riddles scattered along the path, and then approaching the burrows, is a bit like getting to know a kingdom that is otherwise invisible to the eye. A path entirely in the woods with an intermediate stop in a large grassy area that even has a playground equipped with a slackline, Tibetan bridges and a long cable car. This is where Chalet Valbona awaits you for a delicious snack or to taste the typical dishes of the area, before resuming your journey towards Moena.
A special path starts from the top station of the "Le Cune" gondola, dedicated to the animals of the forest. It is an easy and fun route that, combining natural surprises and wild encounters, will take you back to Valbona. The adventure begins by taking path no. 614, which partly follows the ski slope. Keep your eyes peeled! After a while, you will descend into the basin at the foot of Mount Viezzena, home to a colony of talkative marmots. Can you hear their warning whistles? They're warning their friends that you're there!
At the crossroads, turn left following the signpost no. 622. Now the landscape changes: you cross a moraine dotted with monumental trees, bent over time by the weight of winter avalanches. They look like sleeping giants protecting the path... After the steepest stretch, the path moves away from the ski slope and enters an almost magical grove. Here, a path takes you through soft carpets of moss, rhododendrons in bloom, small mountain pines and very rare alpine flowers. Take a deep breath: can you smell the scent of resin? Continuing gently downhill along the slope, you leave the woods and find yourself immersed in a wonderful alpine pasture, overlooking Malga Pozza. Look carefully in the tall grass: you might see a bee, a spider, a snail, a red ant or a weevil! Follow the path that cuts diagonally across the grassy slope and leads to just above the top station of the "Valbona" ski lift. But the adventure is not over yet! Return to the mysterious forest, where the path snakes in wide bends among the trees. Then you come to path no. 614, also known as "Troi di Soldai", which climbs towards the "Sas da Mesodì". Follow it south and… surprise! Without even realising it, you've arrived: right next to the "Valbona" playground!
