The municipality of Tarsdorf is located at the southern indentation of the Upper Weilhart Forest. The landscape is characterised by a moraine landscape of the Salzach glacier of the last ice age with hills as well as moor and moss formations. The terrain jump through a southward sloping moraine wall in the area of the villages of Hörndl and Eichbichl offers a unique scenic panorama with views as far as the Alps.
