Val d'Isère is an authentic mountain village, where even the new buildings are traditional. Located at an altitude of 1,850 metres, it is not only one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the Alps, but also one of the snowiest. With over 1,700 year-round residents, Val d'Isère is also very lively: Sports shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants follow one another. Val d'Isère also offers a wide range of non-skiing sports, leisure, cultural events and activities as well as heritage tours. The choice of hotels ranges from the modern and trendy to the more traditional. However, most guests stay in beautiful traditional chalets.
At the exit of the village, all the slopes meet at a lively snow front. This way, people always meet: beginners and small children have suitable slopes here. Beyond that, the slope is steep and climbs to an altitude of 3400m. The black piste "Face de Bellevarde", which leads from the Rocher de Bellevarde (2827 m) to the village, is really demanding. Of course, the freeride possibilities are almost unlimited in this ski area.

New Vallon gondola lift, optimised link to the high-altitude sectors and the Pisaillas glacier.
Faster, more comfortable, safer and with less environmental impact, the replacement of the Vallon gondola lift this year, 2024, meets the requirements of customer satisfaction and environmental impact.
In 1972, the Col ski lift made the Vallon de l'Iseran and Pisaillas sectors accessible. In 1982, the Vallon TCD6 was installed to improve access to high altitude, and the lift has not been changed since. The new Vallon gondola provides modernised access from the Vallon de l'Iseran to the high-altitude sectors:
Comfort, fluidity, safety: 10 seats compared with 6 before, panoramic views and space.
2,790 m of altitude reached in just 6 min 30 compared with 12 minutes via the old aircraft, very high altitude in a very short time.
Limited impact on the natural environment: siting on the existing axis, maintaining the balance of wild flora and fauna, 30 pylons dismantled to free up the slope, transplantation of all the protected flower species present in the project area.
New accommodation and catering:
The Hotel L'Experimental Chalet Val d'Isère opens this winter in the heart of the old village, just a few steps from the snow front. Rated 4*, the hotel offers 113 rooms, suites and lofts as well as a bar, two restaurants and a Spa with swimming pool, sauna and hammam.
The L'Art des Mets restaurant in the unspoilt Manchet valley, where Caroline and Emmanuel are committed to offering a culinary experience based on products produced in the building.
From 6 December 2024, Les Airelles Val d'Isère will unveil an Italian restaurant concept called Palladio. Inspired by classic Italian dishes with a Venetian twist, Palladio promises an ideal culinary experience from the huge terrace overlooking the Val d'Isère snow front.
Fils à Maman is moving into the mountains with its first high-altitude address on the Val d'Isère snow front. The regressive menu of these family-style restaurants takes its cue from the Alps and offers children's menus at affordable prices, as well as snacks on the way back from the slopes with waffles and hot chocolates.
It's the 30th anniversary of La Fruitière, the restaurant at La Folie Douce, a unique venue at an altitude of 2400 m, where every day the chefs revisit traditional cheese recipes. For the festivities, local cheesemakers, Michelin-starred chefs and the entire Folie Douce team will be highlighting the history of cheese, with all-new cheese recipes, dedicated shows, redesigned costumes and decor.
The children's party: On Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the French school holidays, the teams at La Folie Douce organise parties exclusively for children.
Yoga Brunch: One morning a week with a yoga, pilates or gym session with La Folie Douce's sports coach. Indoors or outdoors, weather permitting.
Breakfast Backstage at La Folie Douce: A private tour of the kitchens, a meeting with the Pastry Chef to make homemade apple turnovers followed by breakfast facing Mont Blanc, before taking part in cabaret rehearsals or enjoying the reading lounge.
